LISTENING

Listening tests are composed of a variety of question types. Students are required to use the skills they have learned in their course books. Listening tests are written in compliance with the skills taught in the course book. Students are responsible for a variety of listening skills in these tests. These skills include understanding main ideas, listening for details and making inferences.

STRUCTURE

Structure tests assess students’ basic grammar knowledge that has been learned throughout the term. These tests are prepared according to the grammar skills taught in the course book.

  • Error Recognition Questions

VOCABULARY

Vocabulary tests consist of formal testing techniques and all target vocabulary items are selected from the vocabulary lists provided to students at the beginning of the term.

READING

Reading tests are written according to the skills students have learned in their course books. In addition to this, students are also taught some techniques such as skimming, scanning and predicting. These tests assess students’ basic reading skills in terms of understanding main ideas, word and pronoun references, details and inferences. Each reading passage usually consists of 10 questions. Students are required to read one passage in Progress tests and two passages in Full tests.
