Beyond the Curriculum

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues in spite of its many unknowns, our curriculum plays a vital role in helping English learners develop the four basic skills online during this difficult time as well as letting them enjoy their journey through learning.

  Weekly Schedule of Extracurricular Activities

Since we all believe in the motto “  Where there is risk, there is opportunity”, we try to incorporate some ‘after class activities’ we already had into our online teaching platform.

It provides grammar support to students who may be in need once in a week.

Students are very welcome to ask any grammar structures which they have difficulty in understanding or they want to practise.

It is planning to be held on Wednesdays for 2 teaching hours this semester. More Language Time, More Fun Time!

It  offers students the unique opportunity to get more about the learning strategies of each skill once in a week which means 6 weeks for 6 skills.

Following is the sample schedule but you will be informed if there are any changes concerning the dates.

During the sessions, the details of the learning process of each skill are provided in an effective way.

This is another fun and educational activity that is designed to help our volunteer students who explore thought provoking topics and video record their talk for 5-10 minutes and upload them on Youtube.

At the end of the term, the videos uploaded will be voted and the winner will be chosen according to the number of likes taken.

Surely you will be rewarded.

We kindly invite you all to our 2nd UTAA TALKS events.

To ensure that learning is not confined to the classroom, EPP provides students opportunities to use the English learned in classes in a variety of real-life situations through a wide range of enriching co-curricular activities such as;

“DFL Seminars” is a weekly event prepared by the instructors of UTAA DFL for students. The seminars are on a variety of topics such as literature and music and it aims at improving students’ language skills as an extracurricular activity as well as enhancing their sociocultural perspective. It is held once a week at Self Access Center and available for all the students.

TED TALK stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — these three broad subject areas that are collectively shaping our world, but UTAA TED Talk means broader than that. It is in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less), may be about anything from science, education, business to global issues in order to spread great ideas at our university among students and also academics. The very 1st UTAA TED TALK was held in 2018-2019 Academic Year with 1the presentations of UTAA English Preparatory Program Students and it will become a tradition with the following TED Talk events holding at the end of each academic year.

Social Responsibility Projects are projects, which are conducted by volunteer students in the second term of each academic year. The most important objective of our projects is to benefit the society without any profit. In this context, considering the needs and problems of individuals and groups, all kinds of activities can be considered to be within the scope of a social responsibility project. Activities such as planting trees, protection of street animals, and providing assistance for the Child Protection Institution were held in the second term last year. This year the SRP is waiting for new volunteers.

All those activities open to students from their very first day at UTAA, DFL are designed both to complement and to extend learning in the classroom.
